Moto’s Flagship series the Moto Z and Moto Z play with modular capability have been launched in India. With Google's re-branded Pixel lineup ready to be unveiled on October 4, the last batch of leaks were expected to make its way on to the virtual space. Last week we saw a bunch of renders of the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from the likes of @onleaks and Android Authority, and no we have what seems like an official listing of the device from UK store Carphone Warehouse. Separately, other renders made their way to the Internet, while Canadian carriers Bell and Telus also leaked official renders of the smartphones in both White and Black colour variants.

Carphone Warehouse reveals the Pixel devices in all its glory, along with highlights of major features and specifications. Both the Pixel and Pixel XL renders are shown along with the tagline "Introducing Pixel. Phone by Google" emphasising Google's self-branded line. The renders are pretty much in line with last week's leaks. The home screen shows circular icons with a new UI that is exclusive to the Pixels. The navigation buttons are present on screen leaving a fairly large bezel at the bottom of the phone.

The images form the site also give us a proper look at all the sides of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL with the power and volume control buttons on the right, a headphone jack on the top and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. There also appears two slits on either sides of the USB Type-C port which is likely to be dual speakers. The back of the device features a camera and flash module with noise cancelling holes next to it on the top left corner, a fingerprint sensor in the middle and the 'G' logo at the bottom. The top and bottom of the back will feature a combination of contrasting colours.

Moreover, the website also suggests that Google's latest Allo and Duo applications will come preloaded with the Pixel. Quick charge promises up to 7 hours of battery life in 15 minutes. Another slide reveals that the two devices will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos with Google Photos.

The website also lists full specifications for each device, although you should take them with a pinch of salt as of now. The Pixel is said to feature a 5-inch full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) Amoled display with a pixel density of 441ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 on top. The device is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage.

Meanwhile, the Google Pixel XL is listed with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) display sporting a pixel density of 534ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 on top. Other than the size and resolution of the display, the rest of the features are similar to the smaller Pixel. Both the devices also feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front. The Pixel and Pixel XL will run on Android 7.1 Nougat with Pixel Launcher.


On Saturday, some more renders were leaked showing the Pixel smartphone in against a natural background in a variety of colour combinations. Canadian Carrier Bell also revealed renders of the Pixel that provide a clear look of the home screen with the new Pixel Launcher and navigation buttons.

Nokia has already announced it’s comeback to the market, this time with Android as their main operating platform. A new Nokia phone dubbed the “D1C” has been spotted son benchmark website GeekBench.

According to the information the D1C will use the new mid-tier, octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC, with each core clocked at 1.4GHz. This will be backed up with 3GB of RAM, and run Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone is expected to be one of the devices from it’s budget lineup, with the name being a prototyping name.

The budget coming Nokia D1c scored 656 to 667 in single-core performance, while scores for multi-core performance ranged from 3,120 to 3,229


In May Nokia granted HMD Global a 10-year license to produce tablets and smartphones under the brand Nokia which will be manufactured in China by Foxconn. However, Nokia is believed to be working on two flagships for an End of year release which will run the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, feature 4 to 6GB RAM and upto 256 GB storage. Nokia will also be adding their PureView camera tech to the flagship phones they launch here on out.

The Nokia D1C is expected to be a phone in the Nokia 5310 lineage with the branding ok Nokia 5320, as the name was spotted last month. The Nokia D1C is expected to launch for less than US $ 150 while in India the D1C should be priced around Rs. 8999.

At an event in Beijing event on Tuesday, Xiaomi launched the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus feature a metal unibody design, with the bigger Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus packing a dual rear camera setup, a strategy adopted by Apple with the latest iPhone models. The new Xiaomi smartphones are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 SoC.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s 3GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,000), while the 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant is priced CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 22,900). The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant on the other hand has been priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 22,900), while the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant has been priced at CNY 2,599 (roughly Rs. 26,000). Both smartphones will be available in four colour variants - Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and White. Both the Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus will go on sale from Thursday via flash sales on JD.com and Mi.com.

The Xiaomi Mi 5s features a 5.15-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with NTSC 95 percent colour gamut and a brightness of 600 nits. The company claims the display bears 16 ultra-bright LED lights to help further boost brightness. The Mi 5s Plus on the other hand features a 5.7-inch display with the same resolution, but a brightness of 550 nits, and a NTSC 94 percent colour gamut.

The Mi 5s Plus (seen below) bears a dual rear camera setup, with two 13-megapixel sensors - one for colour, and the other for black and white. The Mi 5s on the other hand bears a single 12-megapixel rear camera, with Sony IMX 378 sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. Both smartphones support PDAF autofocus, and both bear a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with 2-micron pixels and an f/2.0 aperture. Other differences between the smartphones include the clock speed of the processor. While the Mi 5s bears a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 SoC, the Mi 5s Plus bears a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 SoC.


The Mi 5s bears an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on its home button. Placed under glass, the sensor will not get damaged with use, however, Xiaomi claims it offers the same level of accuracy and speed as regular planar fingerprint sensors. The Mi 5s Plus on the other hand has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

Connectivity options on board it include 4G LTE connectivity with 3x carrier aggregation support, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, barometer, and magnetometer.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu has released a new variant of its MX6 smartphone in China. While the model launched in July sported 4GB of RAM, the company on Wednesday launched a cheaper model with 3GB of RAM. The new variant will go on sale from Saturday in the country with a price tag of CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,100).


To recall, the Meizu MX6 with 4GB of RAM was launched at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,100). The launch of the new variant in China was first reported by GizmoChina. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Flyme OS 5.5 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It sports a 5.5-inch (1080x1920 pixels) LCD display and the company claimed that it sports a colour gamut (NTSC) of 85 percent. It is powered by a 2.3GHz deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage.

The smartphone also sports fingerprint scanner on the home button which the Chinese company claimed can unlock the smartphone in just 0.2 seconds and can also be used for biometric payments carried over via Alipay.


It supports dual-SIM cards and sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, dual tone LED flash, PDAF (phase detection autofocus), and also supports 4K video recording. The Meizu MX6 also sports a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.


The handset supports 4G LTE with VoLTE compatibility. Other connectivity options are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and also come with USB Type-C port. The Meizu MX6 is backed by a 3060mAh battery with fast charging support. The Chinese company claims the MX6 with its fast charging (mCharge) technology can get up to 65 percent charge in just 30 minutes of charging. It measures 153.6x75.2x7.2mm and weighs 155 grams.

Coolpad India on Friday launched the Coolpad Note 5 in India, and the smartphone's highlight feature is its massive 4010mAh battery. The smartphone will be available exclusive via Amazon India from October 20, priced at Rs. 10,999. Coolpad says the smartphone will be available in an open sale model.

The metal-unibody dual-SIM Coolpad Note 5 smartphone bears a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display with 2.5D Curved Glass and a pixel density of 401ppi. It runs Cool UI 8.0, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC, coupled with the Adreno 405 GPU and 4GB of RAM.


The Coolpad Note 5 bears a 13-megapixel real camera with a dual-LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with its own LED flash module and a 'smart beautification feature'. The smartphone bears 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB) - in a hybrid dual-SIM configuration, which means users can either use a second SIM card or a microSD card.


The Note 5 bears a fingerprint scanner on the back panel that's touted to unlock the smartphone in 0.5 seconds. It also supports gesture shortcuts, as well as support for both left and right hand input. The company notes that the Coolpad Note 5 supports all 4G bands in India, with 4G VoLTE support as well.


The Coolpad Note 5 sports a Dual Space system that was first seen on the Coolpad Max, and enables users to have two accounts of WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and other apps on the same phone. A Multi-Screen feature is also being touted, though there is not too much clarity on this front for now.

उदयपुर में आयोजित एक लॉन्च इवेंट में सोनी इंडिया ने अपने लेटेस्ट फ्लगैशिप स्मार्टफोन एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेड को भारत में लॉन्च कर दिया। सोनी एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेड की प्री-ऑर्डर बुकिंग 1 अक्टूबरसे अमेज़न डॉट इन पर शुरू होगी। स्मार्टफोन 10 अक्टूबर से मिलेगा।

सोनी एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेडकी एमआरपी 51,990 रुपये है और यह 49,990 रुपये में मिल जाएगा। स्मार्टफोन की प्री-ऑर्डर बुकिंग कराने वाले ग्राहकों को 8,990 रुपये का सोनी एसडब्ल्यूआर30 स्मार्टबैंड मुफ्त मिलेगा।

सोनी के मुताबिक, सोनी एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेड की सबसे अहम खासियत रियर कैमरा है। इसमें तीन सेंसर दिए गए हैं। सीएमओएस सेंसर फ्रेम में ऑब्जेक्ट के मूवमेंट को ट्रैक और प्रिडिक्ट करेगा, ताकि ब्लर शॉट आने की संभावना कम हो जाए। लेज़र ऑटोफोकस सेंसर ऑब्जेक्ट पर फोकस सही तरह से लॉक करने में मदद करता है, खासकर कम रोशनी वाली परिस्थितियों में। आरजीबीसी-एआर सेंसर का काम सटीक कलर रिप्रोडक्शन देने का है।

इसके साथ 6 एलीमेंट वाला एफ/ 2.0 सोनी जी लेंस और एक 23 मेगापिक्सल का एक्समोर आरएससेंसर दिया गया है। इसके अलावा सोनी का अपना ‘बॉयॉन्ज़ फॉर मोबाइल’ इमेज प्रोसेसरमौजूद है। आपको फोकस और शटर स्पीड का मैनुअल कंट्रोल भी मिलेगा।

सोनी का दावा है कि 13 मेगापिक्सल के वाइड-एंगल फ्रंट कैमरे में एक्समोर आरएस सेंसर है जो आम फ्लैगशिप स्मार्टफोन के सेल्फी कैमरे की तुलना में 2.6 गुना बड़ा है। उम्मीद के मुताबिक, सोनी के इस फोन को आईपी68 का सर्टिफिकेशन मिला है, यानी यह डस्ट और वाटर रेजिस्टेंट है। 5.2 इंच के फुल-एचडी डिस्प्ले पर कॉर्निंग गोरिल्ला ग्लास 4 की प्रोटेक्शन दी गई है।

सोनी एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेड के हाइब्रिड डुअल सिम वेरिएंट को भारत में लॉन्च किया गया है। दोनों ही सिम स्लॉट 4G वीओएलटीई को सपोर्ट करते हैं। इसके अलावा यह मॉडल 64 जीबी इनबिल्ट स्टोरेज से लैस है। स्नैपड्रैगन 820 प्रोसेसर के साथ आने वाले सोनी एक्सपीरिया एक्सज़ेड में 3 जीबी का रैम दिया गया है। इसमें यूएसबी टाइप-सी कनेक्टिविटी है। पावर देने के लिए मौजूद है 2900 एमएएच की बैटरी।

हैंडसेट के साथ आपको सोनी यूसीएच12डब्ल्यू क्विक चार्जर मिलेगा। दावा किया गया है कि 10 मिनट के चार्ज के बाद इसकी बैटरी 5.5 घंटे तक का टॉक टाइम देगी। सोनी का कहना है कि यह फोन इंटेलिजेंट बैटरी चार्ज से लैस है।

No more standing in long queues and waiting for days to get your hands on Reliance Jio SIM card! The company is reportedly gearing up to home deliver its 4G SIM cards.


Reliance Jio started its commercial operations with a bang, and the ‘Welcome Offer’ has received an unprecedented response. The company promises to offer unlimited free local and national outgoing calls for life, high-speed internet and a range of content services to its users. However, due to the massive response, queues outside Reliance Digital and Digital Xpress mini stores are a commonplace. The SIM cards are available in limited quantities and most stores have token system and specific time (11AM to 2PM) when you can get it. To do away with the hassle, Reliance Jio could ease the process of getting a 4G SIM card.

Citing sources, TelecomTalk reports that Reliance Jio is gearing up to start doorstep delivery of its SIM cards. For registration, the company may soon launch a portal where prospective customers will have to fill in basic information, such as full name, address, alternate contact number, identity proof and address proof. Once all the details are available, the Relinace Jio 4G SIM card would be delivered to the applicant’s address within seven days. The company has already tested the service with limited users and will soon make it available in metro cities, the publication reports.

At the time of announcing the launch of Reliance Jio commercial services, chairman Mukesh Ambani mentioned that the company is aiming to garner 100 million subscribers in the shortest possible time. However, looking at the response of the ‘Welcome Offer,’ Reliance Jio has revised its ambitions and is now targeting to reachsubscriber base of 250 million. If it does end up achieving this milestone, it will make Reliance Jio the second-biggest operator in India after Bharti Airtel. The company is ready to makeinvestment and expand its network capacity, and also in talks with potential partners to make this happen. However, with the ongoing tussle with incumbent telecom operators overinterconnect points resulting in failed outgoing calls, it will be interesting to see how Reliance Jio can turn things around. Under the ‘Welcome Offer,’ users get unlimited HD voice calling (local and national). Users also get unlimited high-speed internet access (withdaily cap of 4GB, after which speed is cut down to 128Kbps) for free till December31 2016, as well as unlimited local and national SMS. That’s not all; users also get an access to Reliance Jio’s premium content services, such as live TV, online music streaming, and much more. Recently, Reliance Jio also rebranded some of its apps – JioBeats, the online music streaming service is now JioMusic, OnDemand moviesis now JioCinema and JioPlay, the live TV streaming service is now JioTV. JioDrive, the company’s cloud storage service is now JioCloud and JioJoin, which allows users to make HD voice calls fromnon-VoLTE smartphones is now rebranded to Jio4GVoice. Other apps include JioMags, where you can download and read all popular magazines, and JioSecurity, an anti-virus app for Android smartphones.
